USB Drives and Laptops -- A Big source of Data Leakage

According to the IT experts, portable data storing devices impose the second highest risk of data loss. Employees try to boost their performance so that the employer may reward him or her more about their jobs. For the purpose, they want to work on their respective task in the office and as well as from anywhere they feel comfortable to work. After the introduction of USB (Universal Service Bus) drive which is also called a flash drive, jump drive or thumb drive due to the small size of the portable data storage device, the wish of employees to work from home is accomplished through it.
USB flash drive is used to transfer data and carry it around where ever the user go. It has made the life of employees or anyone who wants to access his or her easy. They can work on their wish and from anywhere around the globe, if an employee wants to have a vacation, his work may not be affected as he can work from his home. The threat to the data is imposed due to the tiny size of the data storing device. This small existence of this device is tough to care; these devices are extremely prone to theft and getting misplaced. Employees the whole data around in their pocket but fail to give this thumb drive due care.
The similar problem is faced by the employees who use laptops as their working tool. Every year thousands of laptops are found abandoned in the public transports such as taxis, public buses or trains. The majority of these laptops has had no such security measures as employees do not care much about the data security or perhaps they are unaware of the data security protocols. The least these workers can do to protect data saved on the laptop is to use security software that can lock files . Data is one of the most precious assets of the business; it is one of the core responsibility of the employees to make it secure.
